The Clef du Vin is a revolutionary concept from France. It is a unique and exceptional instrument that acts as a scientific means of helping you to optimise the selection, laying down and tasting of your wines.
How does it work? In a controlled way the Clef du Vin alloy will gradually modify the organoleptic qualities of the wine (taste, smell, flavours and bouquet), effectively mimicking the ageing of wine. The Clef du Vin has been carefully calibrated so that one second of contact is equal to laying down for one year.
Which wines? The Clef du Vin is effective on all types of wine; red, rose, white, dry, mellow, sweet, fortified or sparkling.
Uses:
- Wine Selection - allows you to only buy wines that will age well or wines you know need to be drunk within the year.
- Laying down - know how long you should lay your wines down for before they reach their optimum drinking age.
- Tasting young wine - you will be able to appreciate a young wine right away that otherwise may have taken many years to mature (providing it has good ageing potential in the first place!)
- Good old fashion fun! - Why not enjoy an evening of entertainment with friends comparing different wines and undertaking some blind tasting sessions to guess the age of wine.
